Artist's Description
Folly's Own is the first in a series of horse images for Fabric Melodies. Easter Beau, or Chip as he is called by the young riders at Scotsgrove Stables who adore him, was born on Easter morning in 2012 to Folly in South Carolina. Chip was just days old when he stood in the pasture - not far from his mother's watchful eye. My granddaughter took the original photograph that inspired this image, capturing the enormity of the moment as Chip greeted the wide world around him. His coat of many glorious colors was breathtaking to behold in the morning sun. Without question, those long legs promise a regal stature.
Scanned quilting fabrics are used to create the digital image, piece by piece, according to texture and tonal values in order to provide a three-dimensional quality to the two-dimensional image. About Robin Morgan
Digital Artist/Graphic Designer Robin G. Morgan has been involved in the visual arts for over thirty-five years. She began her artistic journey as a school volunteer, before becoming an educational consultant, digital publisher, graphic designer, media developer, and middle/high school digital arts teacher. Fabric Melodies are created with scanned fabrics that are selected specifically for their extraordinary patterns. Using Photoshop, Ms. Morgan designs then constructs each digital image–layer by layer—before watercolor details are added. The process is repeated until each digital image is completed.
